Longtime NFL running back Frank Gore is going to be retiring where it all began.
Gore, 38, announced on Saturday night via Instagram live that he plans to retire as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners took Gore out of the University of Miami with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent the next 10 years in the Bay Area where he became a focal point of the San Francisco offense. Gore ran for over 1,000 yards in eight of those 10 seasons.
It’s fitting he’s going to retire a 49er. It’s how it should be. A ceremony will likely take place at some point this offseason.
