A marshal at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will no longer be working the event after sending out a disgusting tweet wishing harm to Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton.
The marshal in question was forced to quit after tweeting he hoped Hamilton would suffer a crash “like Romain in Bahrain.” Referencing former Haas driver Romain Grosjean, whose car crashed and burst into flames on the opening lap of the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.
@/Heem4u thought he’d be smart by changing his @ to @/fast3422 and change his profile btw

Grosjean sustained severe burns to his hands as a result of the accident.
The FIA was reportedly made aware of the tweet Saturday and chose to investigate it. According to ESPN.com, the FIA confirmed, “the marshal had apologized for the post and would take no further part in the event.”
The marshal issued an apology to his account which has since been deleted.
That went quick. Guess it’s the power of social media that this marshal who hoped Lewis Hamilton got a Grosjean like incident is fired. Withdrawn he calls it himself, but let’s say it like it is. #F1 pic.twitter.com/O8kdPliBHl

The tweet read, “I would like to apologise to SAMF [Saudi Arabian Motorsport Federation] and Lewis and announce my resignation from my duties on track.”
The vile nature of the marshal’s tweet has no place in racing. And the event is better off without his participation.
