On Tuesday afternoon, the sporting world learned that a former NFL player is returning to his alma mater.
Longtime NFL tight end Virgil Green is headed back to Nevada. No, he’s not finishing his degree like former Pittsburgh Steelers legend Jerome Bettis is doing at Notre Dame.
According to a report from college football insider Bruce Feldman, Green is headed back to help the Nevada football team. He’s reportedly joining the team as its director of player personnel.
“Former Broncos and Chargers TE Virgil Green, who spent a decade in the NFL, will become Nevada’s Director of player personnel,” Feldman said. “Green played at Nevada for Chris Ault when Ken Wilson and Jim Mastro were on staff.”

During his NFL career, Green racked up 102 receptions for 1,145 yards and seven touchdowns.
