Former Michigan QB Lands News Job In Media

August 27, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Less than a decade ago, Devin Gardner was quarterbacking for the Michigan Wolverines. Fast forward to 2021 and he’ll be in the broadcasting booth for college football’s 2021 season.

Gardner last played football in 2014, which was the last of his five years he spent in Ann Arbor as a player. He had 6,336 passing yards, 44 passing touchdowns, 916 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns  as a Wolverine. Gardner then had brief stints in the NFL, X-League and Canadian Football League. He’ll now take on a whole new challenge.

Gardner has landed a gig in the college football world, but he won’t be spending time on the field. This time, he’ll be in the broadcasting booth. The former Michigan football player will make his debut both in his new profession and for FOX Sports on Friday, Sept. 3 for the South Dakota State-Colorado State showdown.

Eric Collins will join Gardner in the booth. The two will help provide coverage for college football’s jam-packed opening weekend.

“On Friday, Sept. 3, analyst and former University of Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner makes his FOX Sports debut alongside play-by-play broadcaster Eric Collins for South Dakota State-Colorado State at 9:00 PM ET on FS1,” FOX Sports PR announced on Thursday.

Devin Gardner reportedly joined FOX Sports back in July. It was then announced he would be calling select football games during this college football season.

It’ll be fun watching the former Michigan quarterback on the call when South Dakota State takes on Colorado State on Friday, Sept. 3.
