Nearly three years ago, Baker Mayfield made headlines for what he said about former Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson’s trade request.
“It’s self-inflicted. It is what it is. It’s not awkward for anyone else in this building,” Mayfield told reporters when asked about Johnson’s trade request. “He’s gotta do his job. He said he was a professional. I hope he does his job.”
Mayfield added: “You’re either on this train or you’re not.” Well, three years later, it’s now Mayfield that is the subject of trade rumors as the Browns attempt to land Deshaun Watson.
On Tuesday night, Mayfield sent a lengthy message to Browns fans, thanking them for their support over the years. While he said there wasn’t any hidden meaning in the message, it certainly felt like a goodbye.
Duke Johnson apparently remembers what Mayfield said about him because on Tuesday night the veteran running back seemed to have a clear message for his former quarterback.
He posted a gif of a train wreck – seemingly hinting at Mayfield’s tenure with the Browns.

Johnson is clearly still bothered by what transpired between he and Mayfield during their tenure in Cleveland together three years ago – or so it seems.
Perhaps Mayfield won’t be on the train in Cleveland for much longer either. Even if the Browns don’t land Watson, the team could reportedly still trade Mayfield.
