After parting ways with Mike White after seven years as their head basketball coach, the Florida Gators have found his replacement.
According to CBS college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the Gators are hiring Todd Golden as their new head coach. Golden has been the head coach of the San Francisco Dons for the past three years and just led them on an improbable NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Dons went 23-8 in the regular season and didn’t win the WCC regular season title or tournament title. But they made it to the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed. It was their first appearance in over 20 years, but ended ni a loss to Murray State.
In three years at San Francisco, Golden went 57-36 overall with a 23-22 conference record. He served two seasons as a top assistant to Bruce Pearl at Auburn before going to San Francisco in 2016 under Kyle Smith.

In seven seasons at Florida, Mike White led the Gators to the NCAA Tournament four times. He took them to the Elite Eight in 2017, but never beyond the Round of 32 in their other appearances.
But the Billy Donovan days feel like a distant memory after three straight seasons with less than 20 wins.
The SEC is a hotly contested battleground in college basketball and Florida are smack in the middle of its ranking right now.
Will Todd Golden be a good fit for the Florida Gators?
