A quick review of a wild Week 15 game

What a wild game. Derek Carr gets hurt. Marcus Mariota comes in for the first time as a Las Vegas Raiders and balls out. Then we have the Raiders’ defense in their first game since Paul Guenther was fired …

In a brutal overtime finish, the Raiders ended up coming up short and losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in the first overtime game at Allegiant Stadium.

Let’s take a closer look at how it all unfolded.

Record:
The Las Vegas Raiders are now 7-7.

What it means:
The Raiders have lost four of their past five games. They looked to be in great shape at 6-3 and now they need a ton of help to make the playoffs. I mean, a ton of help.

Turning point:
There were plenty of turning points, but this wild game ended with the Raiders’ defense holding after a Daniel Carlson field goal. A Los Angeles touchdown after the Raiders’ stalled on a long drive and could only get a field goal.

OUCH

Injury report:
Quarterback Derek Carr left the game in the first quarter with a groin injury after a scramble, he was then replaced by backup Marcus Mariota. In the third quarter, on a punt return, Raiders receiver Hunter Renfrow took a big hit to the head and left the game. He did not return either.

What’s next:
The Raiders finish a three-game home stretch by hosting the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 on Saturday night (Dec. 26). The Raiders can’t lose against the 8-5 Dolphins who are ahead of them in the AFC playoff picture.
