Late Friday night, fans watching a NASCAR Xfinity Series race received a little extra action.
Following the thrilling race, two drivers decided to settle their difference off the track rather than on it. A post-race melee sparked after Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer had a little trouble with each other on the track.
In a video, Gibbs can be seen wearing his helmet, while Mayer is not. When Mayer pushed him, Gibbs threw a punch and they came together in a melee as others tried to break it up.
“Ban them for 10 years,” one fan said referencing the Academy banning Will Smith from all events for 10 years after he slapped Chris Rock.

One person noted Mayer shouldn’t have taken off his helmet.
“if you’re doing an activity with helmets and you’re going to fight someone, don’t take your helmet off first,” they said.

Following the race, Gibbs attempted to explain what led to the fracas.
“I tried to talk to him and he got all in my face and at that point, we’ve got to start fighting,” Gibbs said via ESPN. “We got put in a bad position there. The only thing I’m mad about is [Mayer] didn’t have anything. He wasn’t going to get past [third-place finisher A.J. Allmendinger] and I just got hit in the left rear.”
It’s unclear if either driver will be punished.
