A woman is facing charges after punching a police officer in the face at the Toronto Blue Jays‘ home opener on Friday evening.
The incident occurred in the 500 level of Rogers Centre during Toronto’s 10-8 comeback victory over the Texas Rangers. A woman and man were involved in an altercation with other fans when authorities were called to intervene.
The pair were reportedly asked to leave, and in the video below, you can see the woman get shoved in the back as she is exiting the scene.
When she turns around to retaliate, she strikes a female officer in the face.

According to the Toronto police, the 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and being intoxicated in a public space.
No other injuries were reported. It was the Blue Jays’ first home opener in Toronto since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
