The Atlanta Falcons are signing a former first-round pick to help on the defensive side of the ball, according to a report.
The Falcons have reportedly reached a contract agreement with Rashaan Evans on a one-year deal, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Evans was taken with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He spent the last four years there, compiling 317 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions.
The Alabama product now goes from the AFC South to the NFC South. He should have a prominent role for the Falcons later this fall.

As Schefter notes, there’s already a strong connection between Evans and the Falcons.
Atlanta’s head coach, Arthur Smith, and defensive coordinator, Dean Pees, coached Evans in Tennessee. It should be a smooth transition for the former first-round pick.
In college, Evans was one of the sport’s most physical forces. He was a nightmare for opposing offensive lineman. He hasn’t had the same impact in the NFL.
A year ago, the Titans declined to exercise Evans’ fifth-year option. It was a clear sign the organization wanted to move on and find defensive help elsewhere.
A fresh start in Atlanta could be all Evans needs to become the force we saw at Alabama.
