It’s no secret the Atlanta Falcons need help at wide receiver. With that said, the front office addressed that position group this Friday with its latest signing.
Per ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Falcons are signing wide receiver Damiere Byrd to a one-year deal.
Byrd, 29, spent the 2021 season with the Chicago Bears. In 17 games, the South Carolina product had 26 catches for 329 yards and a touchdown.
Overall, Byrd has 117 career receptions, 1,421 receiving yards and five touchdowns. In addition to suiting up for the Chicago Bears, he had stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots.

The addition of Byrd doesn’t solve all of the Falcons’ problems at wide receiver, but it’s a start.
As of now, Olamide Zaccheaus, KhaDarel Hodge and Frank Darby are the top three options on the depth chart for Atlanta. This position group would look much better if the Falcons didn’t lose Calvin Ridley to a lengthy suspension.
At this rate, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Falcons select a wide receiver in this year’s draft.
