It must feel good to not be a part of the New York Jets.
That’s what everyone’s saying about Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold on Sunday afternoon. Darnold and the Panthers are taking on the Jets in Week 1 of the 2021 regular season.
So far, it’s been all Darnold and the Jets.
Carolina leads New York, 16-0, at halftime. Darnold has thrown for 234 yards and one touchdown on 17 of 22 passing. He’s added two rushes for five yards and a touchdown.
That’s a pretty good start to the post-Jets era for Darnold.
Darnold isn’t the only former Jet burning his former team, too. Ex-New York wide receiver Robby Anderson caught a 57-yard pass for a touchdown from Darnold.

Darnold significantly outplayed Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson in the first half.

You have to be feeling good if you’re Darnold.
“feels DAMN GOOD to be away from Adam Gase,” NFL analyst Warren Sharp tweeted.

There’s still another half to play, but the first two quarters couldn’t have gone much better if you’re Darnold and the Panthers.
