LeBron James’ 2021-22 season is over. On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that James will miss their final two games because of an ankle sprain.
“LeBron James’ left ankle was recently reevaluated by Lakers medical staff, and it was determined that due to the ankle sprain James suffered in a game on March 27th, he will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season to allow for continued healing and an expected full recovery,” the team said in an official release.
The timing of this announcement is interesting to say the least. Last Friday, James announced on Twitter that he’s out for the season.
“I’m out for the season officially,” James tweeted. “See y’all in the fall.”
Fast forward a week later, and James has actually been ruled out for the rest of the season. That has fans wondering if he was kind of telling the truth on April Fools’ Day.

With the Lakers eliminated from playoff contention, there’s probably no reason to risk James’ injury getting worse.
As for James’ tweet from April Fools’ Day, it’s highly unlikely that he actually meant what he said on that day because he suited up for the Lakers’ game that same night against the Pelicans.
