Everyone Said The Same Thing About Drew Lock After Seahawks 2nd-Round Picks

April 30, 2022 by The Spun

Drew Lock celebrates a win for the Broncos.

The Seattle Seahawks had the chance to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis not once but twice during the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. They ultimately decided to address other needs on their team.

With the 40th pick in the draft, the Seahawks selected Minnesota edge rusher Boye Mafe. He had an outstanding week at the Senior Bowl.

One pick later, the Seahawks drafted Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III. Last season, he had 1,636 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns for the Spartans.

Since the Seahawks elected to pass up on a quarterback, the NFL world is starting to think that Drew Lock will be the Week 1 starter for Seattle.

“It’s Drew Lock’s team in Seattle,” Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus tweeted.

“The Seahawks are gonna platoon Geno Smith and Drew Lock, this is the definition of a ZAG,” Bill Simmons of The Ringer said.

“Drew Lock is attempting 10 passes a game,” Theo Ash of Blue Wire tweeted.

Lock was part of the Russell Wilson trade from earlier this offseason.

In his only year as a full-time starter for the Denver Broncos, Lock completed 57.3 of his passes with 2,933 yards, 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Is Drew Lock the long-term solution at quarterback for the Seahawks? We’ll find out soon enough.
