Philadelphia Eagles second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts was a late scratch for tonight’s preseason game due to an illness, which was later confirmed to be a stomach ailment.
In his post-game press conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni revealed that arrived at the stadium not feeling well and tried to gut it out in warmups. However, he was unable to do so and instead went to the hospital for evaluation.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hurts will be away from the team for at least a couple of more days after being diagnosed with a stomach infection and told to stay at home to rest.

With Hurts sitting out, the Eagles started veteran Joe Flacco at quarterback. It didn’t go well, as Flacco was 10-for-17 passing for 83 yards and an interception.
Nick Mullens, Philly’s third-string quarterback, fared worse, completing only 5-of-10 passes for 27 yards and an interception in the 35-0 loss.
You can only put so much stock in preseason games, but the Eagles did not look good tonight in any way, shape or form. The longer Hurts is out, the less likely that is to change, so hopefully the young QB can make a speedy recovery and rejoin the team by the end of the weekend or early next week.
