The Los Angeles Rams gave Matthew Stafford a new bag on Saturday. And now according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team is set to push forward on a contract for All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Per Fowler, “With Stafford contract done, Rams will push to complete Aaron Donald’s deal. There has been progress.”

The Rams locked up their QB to the tune of four years, $160 million. Like a number of other recent contracts, Stafford’s new deal gives him more upfront money, while keeping his cap number down.
Aaron Donald had reportedly been mulling over retirement after the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI win. But at the championship parade, Donald sounded ready to run it back. And now, it seems a contract to keep him in LA seems imminent.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was up to his usual tricks in 2021. Racking up another 12.5 sacks from the inside, while also adding a career-high 84 tackles and four forced fumbles.
The Rams selected Aaron Donald 13th overall in the 2014 draft and never looked back. Since entering the league, Donald has been a Pro Bowler every year of his career and has been selected as a first-team All-Pro in seven of his eight NFL seasons.
Expect the team to take of their own with this next deal.
