Earlier this offseason, ESPN updated its Football Power Index, a computer model that ranks teams based on a multitude of different factors.
Unsurprisingly, Alabama stood at the top of the mountain coming in at No. 1. Fellow powers Ohio State and Georgia came in at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively with Clemson and Notre Dame rounding out the top five.
But we’re not here to talk about the five best teams in college football. No, we’re here to focus on the worst teams in the country (sorry in advance to their fans).
Here are the five WORST teams in college football, per ESPN:
- New Mexico Lobos (127)
- Bowling Green Falcons (128)
- UMass Minutemen (129)
- UConn Huskies (130)
- New Mexico States Aggies (131)
Unfortunately for fans in New Mexico, the state is home to two of the worst college football programs in the country.
Perhaps they’ll do better in 2022 and have a better spot in next year’s pre-season rankings.
