This year’s NFL draft class is stacked with highly-touted wide receiver talent. But as there is with every draft, this year’s class will also welcome some late-round steals.
ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick pointed out this fact as teams ponder what to do with their draft picks in 2022.
“In the vaunted 2020 draft class of WR’s, the #2 TD catcher of that class over the past 2 seasons was drafted in the 4th round, and the WR that is #3 in Receptions over the past 2 seasons was drafted in the 5th round,” he wrote.
“These two players also have excelled under VERY different QB AND team situations,” he added. “Moral of the story: the book that is being written on these 2022 draft eligible players is not even past the table of contents yet.”

The cream of the crop in this year’s class includes Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson, USC’s Drake London, Alabama’s Jameson Williams, Ohio State’s Chris Olave, Arkansas’ Treylon Burks, Penn State’s Jahan Dotson, Georgia’s George Pickens and Alabama’s John Metchie III.
Though those top-tier prospects have garnered the majority of NFL draft attention, some other talent may be slipping through the cracks. Guys like Western Michigan’s Skyy Moore, Memphis’ Calvin Austin III, North Dakota State’s Christian Watson and others have also been revered as wideout options with potential to succeed in the NFL.
Who do you think will be this year’s wide receiver steal of the draft?
