ESPN Analyst Has Bold Prediction For Best Rookie QB In 2021 Class

There are several rookie quarterbacks poised to get a lot of playing time in the 2021 NFL season. But one ESPN analyst has a slightly bolder prediction for who will have the best rookie season.

On Friday’s edition of Get Up, NFL analyst Ryan Clark predicted that New York Jets rookie QB Zach Wilson will be the best rookie of the 2021 draft class. Clark justified his position by arguing that Wilson has shown in the preseason that he can adapt to more professional styles of play than what he did in college.

“Listen, when you walk Zach Wilson in the preseason, he’s not really doing all the things that we loved about him,” Clark said. “What we loved was throwing off platforms, running to his left, throwing to his right. The dude was so good at this they just schemed it into his Pro Day. But he’s been poised. He’s taken what the defense has given him. And after a week of practicing against the Green Bay Packers, he came out and he shredded them in what was a dress rehearsal for these teams in the second preseason game. Zach Wilson looks the part.”

It’s an analysis from Clark that Jets fans will probably agree with wholeheartedly. But the rest of the NFL world doesn’t seem convinced.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Zach Wilson has a great year with the New York Jets.

Given that he’s going to be the team’s Week 1 starter, he’s probably going to play the entire year. And as of writing, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is the only other rookie getting the same treatment.

But Wilson still needs to navigate being the starting QB for a team that’s been anemic on offense for the better part of five years. The cupboard is pretty bare, and he will need to elevate the roster if he wants to thrive.

Is Ryan Clark right about Zach Wilson? Will the Jets QB be the top rookie of the 2021 draft class?
