Longtime NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews is among the many people who aren’t surprised that Tom Brady reversed his retirement decision earlier this week. She is surprised by his decision to return to Tampa Bay, though.
During the most recent episode of her podcast with Charissa Thompson, Andrews said she was pretty sure that Brady was going to join the San Francisco 49ers in 2022.
“I’m not surprised he’s back. I am surprised he’s back with Tampa,” Andrews said. “I really, really, really thought he was going to end up in San Francisco. Which selfishly, for me and my travel would’ve been great. But I’m so excited that he’s back just in general.”

Immediately after Brady’s initial retirement decision, rumors of a possible merger with the Niners organization began to swirl. The all-time great quarterback was born and raised in the area with the 49ers as his hometown team, and his parents still live in the San Mateo area.
Some wondered if the 44-year-old QB’s retirement decision was simply a move to leave the Tampa Bay organization. But with his definitive choice to return with the Bucs in 2022, that notion has been put to rest.
Now heading into his 23rd NFL season, Brady is on the hunt for his eight Super Bowl title.
