Country singer Eric Church left his fans stunned this week when he announced that he was canceling a sold-out concert in San Antonio so he can attend the Final Four in New Orleans.
“This is also the most selfish thing I’ve ever asked the Choir to do: to give up your Saturday night plans with us so that I can have this moment with my family and sports community,” Church said in a statement. “However, it’s that same type of passion felt by the people who fill the seats at our concerts that makes us want to be part of a crowd at a game of this significance.”
On Friday afternoon, Church had a new message to share with his fans on social media.
Church has decided that he’ll perform a free show later this year for anyone impacted by the recent cancelation.
“Thank you San Antonio for letting me take my family to this game. It took a minute to figure out how and when I could properly express my thanks,” Church said. “I will be coming to Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX on Friday, September 2, 2022 for a ONE of a kind FREE show for those of you who bought tickets and were planning to attend our canceled San Antonio show. Details to be announced soon.”

This might not erase the damage done this week, but at least it’s a consolation prize for those who wanted to watch him perform in San Antonio.
Church will be in New Orleans this Saturday to watch his favorite team, the North Carolina Tar Heels, take on the Duke Blue Devils in the national semifinals.
