Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will likely play his final regular season game in the black and gold this afternoon in Baltimore.
Fittingly, it will come against the Ravens, a franchise Big Ben has had some epic battles with over the years. While there may be an intense rivalry between the two franchises, there is also clearly a lot of respect for Roethlisberger among past and current Ravens.
This weekend, Baltimore published a list of farewells for Big Ben from men who have worn the purple and black. Among those quoted was Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed.
Reed tipped his cap to the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and added that he anticipates welcoming him into the Hall of Fame in a few years.
“The dude was just a competitor, one of those ultimate competitors,” Reed said. “Big Ben always gave them a chance. Congrats on a great career and good luck after football. See ya in Canton.”

Roethlisberger enters this afternoon with an 18-11 overall record against Baltimore, including a 2-1 mark in the postseason. A win today over the Ravens would keep Pittsburgh’s slim playoff hopes alive.
In order to make the postseason, the Steelers (8-7-1) need a victory this afternoon, an Indianapolis Colts loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and for tonight’s Raiders-Chargers game to not end in a tie.
