The New Orleans Saints currently occupy the No. 1 seed in the NFC – despite playing the last three games without Drew Brees.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback has missed the past three games with 11 rib fractures and a punctured lung. Despite his absence, the Saints are 3-0 without him on the field.
Backup quarterback Taysom Hill has performed admirably in Brees’ absence. Earlier this week, Brees made his return to the practice field, but did so in a limited capacity.
There was some thought that he’d be able to step on the field this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, it’s Hill who will get his fourth-consecutive start this weekend.
Brees continues to progress from his injuries and could be back on the field soon. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero noted the next few days are pivotal as Brees attempts to get back on the field.
A big few days ahead for #Saints QB Drew Brees, who is rehabbing behind the scenes and progressing towards throwing a football. He’ll have a shot to play the #Chiefs next week, but they don’t need to rush him. @nflnetwork @gmfb pic.twitter.com/kID6bgpV05

Perlissero noted no one has seen Brees throw a football during his recovery yet.
New Orleans has a potential Super Bowl preview coming up next weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. With Patrick Mahomes and company coming to town, the Saints are hoping Brees will be able to get back on the field.
Over the past two seasons, Brees has missed a total of eight games. Sean Payton and the Saints are 8-0 in those games.
Can that streak continue this weekend?
