The college basketball world took to Twitter to react to the fan favorite’s transfer decision. Some feel Edert should’ve rode the NCAA Tournament momentum into a bigger program.
“Thought he was going to a major league, but all the respect to this kid,” one wrote.
“Kind of shocked by this. kind of a downgrade for him. wished he went to a MAC level school like buffalo,” another added.
If I’m a Saint Peter’s fan I’m furious lmao https://t.co/ArNzvL3oxP

Others noted excitement in a possible pairing with Bryant superstar Peter Kiss — the NCAA Division I scoring leader in 2021-22 (25.2 point per game).
Kiss declared for the NBA draft earlier this year, but could return for one final season of eligibility if his professional aspirations don’t turn out.
“Doug Edert and Peter Kiss the dream team,” one wrote.
“This Bryant team is lowkey loaded if Peter Kiss comes back,” anther added.
Holy hell bring Peter Kiss back and Bryant is must-see TV every night https://t.co/oWQUDKS6Er

Bryant earned an NCAA Tournament berth before falling in a 16-seed matchup against Wright State in the First Four.
Through St. Peter’s’ magical Elite Eight run, Edert averaged 11.3 points per game — including an incredible 20-point performance in a Round 1 upset over the No. 2-seed Kentucky Wildcats.
