The Philadelphia 76ers were stunned by the Detroit Pistons last night, losing 102-94. After the game, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers appeared to call out star guard James Harden.
Speaking to the media after the game, Rivers was asked to talk about the bench team’s struggles during the game. But Rivers seemed to attribute their struggles to a lack of shots. He then hinted that James Harden might have taken too many shots away from his bench,
“They didn’t struggle – they didn’t get a lot of shots, you know, in their defense. I think during that stretch it was (more) James than them. So, you know, it’s just a tough night,” Rivers said.
Harden went 4 of 15 on field goals but finished with 18 points after going 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Rivers’ entire bench went a combined 3 of 13 with just eight points from Shake Milton, DeAndre Jordan and Georges Niang.
Doc Rivers didn’t blame the bench unit for the 76ers’ loss to the Pistons.

The Philadelphia 76ers gave up a lot to bring James Harden into the fold and he got off to a superb start with them, winning eight of his first 10 starts in Philly.
But the Sixers are currently riding a three-game losing streak, during which Harden has had two of his worst games for them.
At 46-30, Philadelphia are now in fourth place in the East – one win behind the Boston Celtics, two behind the Milwaukee Bucks and three wins behind the first-place Miami Heat.
Can James Harden correct course in time for the 76ers to get a higher seed in the playoffs?
