Add D.K. Metcalf to the list of people who were surprised by the Seahawks’ trade of Russell Wilson.
During a recent appearance with Kevin Garnett’s show, KG Certified, the superstar wide receiver shared his reaction to the news of his quarterback’s departure.
Metcalf said he was “in shock” when he got the call about Wilson’s trade to the Denver Broncos.
“I was very shocked. I never thought he was going to leave Seattle,” he said.

The same day Wilson was traded, the Seahawks also cut veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner. Metcalf said he considered Wagner his “big brother” on the team.
The departure of Wilson and Wagner may mark the end of an era in Seattle, but it could also signify a new beginning.
“It’s time for me to step up, be a leader. It’s my time in Seattle now. That’s the way I look at it,” Metcalf added.
Metcalf is heading into the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023.
