March Madness wasn’t the same without Dick Vitale, who was sidelined from his normal duties while battling lymphoma.
On Sunday, the legendary broadcaster looked ahead to a monumental few days that will hopefully bring Vitale good news.
Per a Twitter post, he’s said going to Boston to have his vocal cords evaluated after having surgery. On Instagram, he described Dr. Steven Zeitels as “the Tom Brady of the vocal cords.”
Then he’ll hope to ring the bell Thursday, signifying the end of his chemotherapy treatment. He asked for love and prayers ahead of the big week.

Shortly after undergoing successful surgeries to remove melanoma, Vitale announced his second cancer diagnosis last October. He stepped aside in December on doctors’ recommendations to rest his voice.
“I’ve said it over and over again – I have been so touched and humbled by the outpouring of well-wishes,” Vitale wrote in December. “Your notes, calls, texts and tweets mean the world to me. I love people and I’m so grateful to have such an incredible life. And my bosses at ESPN are simply fantastic and completely supportive.”
Best of luck to Vitale. Getting to hear the passionate broadcaster return the booth would certainly be awesome, baby.
