We’ve got what appear to be two enticing matchups in the Final Four on Saturday, and ESPN’s Dick Vitale is obviously excited.
Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Villanova are the last teams standing in one of the most “blue blood” Final Four fields we’ve had in a few years. The Jayhawks and Wildcats will meet in a national semifinal for the second time in the last five years.
Meanwhile, Duke and North Carolina are facing each other in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the storied history of the rivalry. Adding to the intrigue is the fact Mike Krzyzewski lost his final regular season home game to the Tar Heels and now could be sent into retirement by Hubert Davis’ team.
Dickie V summed up the weekend succinctly in one tweet tonight.
BLUEBLOODS set the stage Thurs. in the Big Easy. 3 HOF Coaches & a Diaper Dandy leader who eats & sleeps Carolina blue. VILLANOVA vs KANSAS & hard to believe 1st time ever that DUKE- UNC meet in [NCAA Tournament]. Oh yes GOAT Coach K’s last rodeo!
