Details Emerge From Tyrod Taylor’s Contract With New York Giants

March 16, 2022 by The Spun

Houston Texans v Green Bay Packers

Tyrod Taylor is going to be playing football for the New York Giants next season.

Taylor intends to sign a two-year, $17 million deal with the Giants. $8.5 million of the deal is guaranteed, indicating he’ll be playing a big role for the team this upcoming season.

The veteran quarterback is expected to start out as Daniel Jones’ backup. However, the jury’s still out on the former Duke star. Taylor will get his shot if Jones struggles this upcoming season.

As noted by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Tyrod Taylor is a class act and one of the best backups in the business. The Giants are in good hands.

“One of the top backups/bridge starters out there, Tyrod Taylor is also a class act who has handled just about every situation you could handle the right way. A lot of qualities make this attractive,” Rapoport tweeted.

Tyrod Taylor spent the 2021 season in Houston. He completed 60.7 percent of his throws with five touchdowns and five picks in six games.

A  year prior, Taylor was supposed to be the Chargers’ year-long starting quarterback. However, a freak accident sidelined the veteran after he was accidentally punctured by a needle in the lung by a team doctor. That opened the door for Justin Herbert, who never looked back and proceeded to have one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history.

Taylor is now in another situation where he’ll serve as backup. But poor play by Jones could open the door for him this upcoming season.
