Details are starting to emerge about a car accident UCF head coach Gus Malzahn was involved in on Monday night.
Malzahn was in a car accident in Auburn, Ala. on Monday night. The UCF head coach was in the area to be his wife, Kristi, following the passing of her father.
Fortunately, Malzahn was not injured in the accident.
College football insider Brett McMurphy has more the developing story:
“UCF coach Gus Malzahn was involved in an automobile accident Monday night in Auburn, Ala.,” McMurphy tweeted. “Malzahn was in Auburn to be w/his wife Kristi as they assisted Kristi’s mother after the passing of Kristi’s father. Gus, who was the driver, was not injured in the accident.”

The other individual involved in the car accident was lifted away in a helicopter, according to reports.
It’s certainly fortunate Gus Malzahn is okay, especially considering all that he and his family have been through these last few years.
Earlier this year Malzahn announced his wife, Kristi, had to be hospitalized for an undisclosed infection.
“There were times I was scared to death I was going to lose her,” Malzahn said, via 247Sports. “I kept praying and I knew others were praying, too. We were overwhelmed by family, friends and fans who were sending their prayers our way. I believe Kristi is with us today because of the power of prayer and, of course, the doctors and nurses at Orlando Health were amazing.”
Malzahn, meanwhile, is entering his second season as UCF’s head coach.
