The Deebo Samuel trade rumors are heating up as we enter another new week of the NFL offseason.
The rumors began when fans noticed Samuel is no longer following the San Francisco 49ers on Instagram. Shortly thereafter, he removed almost everything 49ers-related from his account.
We’ve seen this move before. Kyler Murray used the strategy earlier this offseason, but it didn’t really go anywhere. All signs indicate he’s going to play for the Arizona Cardinals this upcoming season.
Samuel, on the other hand, could be the next superstar wide receiver on the move. Marc Adams of 49ers Web Zone reported on Monday afternoon that he’s no longer confident Samuel is playing for San Francisco next season.
“Me (last week when Deebo news was going crazy): There’s no way the #49ers trade Deebo! Me (this week after hearing from a few people who know more than I do): Oh, crap. Are the #Niners gonna trade Deebo? I still don’t think so, but I’m not as confident this week,” Adams tweeted.

Uh oh. The 49ers better act fast.
This all stems from Deebo Samuel’s desire for a new contract. He’s earned it. But the 49ers don’t have ample salary-cap space. You can blame Jimmy Garoppolo for that.
The Niners could cut Garoppolo tomorrow, clear up cap space and give Samuel an extension. But he’s still on the roster as of today. Until a move is made, Samuel is probably going to stay on his rookie contract.
It’s going to be a turbulent offseason in the Bay Area.
