The Dallas Cowboys have no shortage of options at running back heading into the 2022 season. But they’re adding a veteran back to their ranks for some extra depth.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys are signing running back Ryan Nall to a deal. Nall plays primarily on special teams and has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Bears.
As a running back, Nall didn’t offer much to the Bears. The former undrafted free agent out of Oregon State had nine receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown plus 12 rushing yards in three seasons.
Nall might wind up serving the Cowboys more as a special teams player when all is said and done. He has played over 60-percent of special teams snaps in each of his three seasons. Nall has nine career tackles and a fumble recovery.

With the addition of Ryan Nall, the Cowboys now have seven running backs on their roster. They have Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard as their top two options, along with Rico Dowdle and JaQuan Hardy at halfback. Sewo Olonilua and Nick Ralston are designated as fullbacks.
Nall will have to really stand out from the crowd in order to earn a spot in the running backs room this season. But a few extra options won’t hurt.
Will Ryan Nall have a big role in the Cowboys offense this season?
