Dak Prescott Will Reportedly “Do More” At Cowboys Practice

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is slowly returning to full health after his devastating ankle injury this past season. But according to recent statements from head coach Mike McCarthy, it appears that return will start to ramp up next week.

While Prescott won’t be back to a full slate of practice reps just yet, McCarthy said his QB should be “more involved” moving forward.

“To be honest with you, we’re just trusting the training staff on this one. They’re counting every throw,” McCarthy said, per DallasCowboys.com. “This is a volume regulation, endurance. There’s a big-picture outlook to this. He’ll definitely be involved in some form of practice more than this week. To stand here and tell you he’d be full go and take all the reps, I’m not there yet.”

So far, Prescott has been limited in practice as he’s held out of all team-drill reps.

McCarthy does not believe Prescott will have to be on a pitch count during practices once the regular season starts. “I think we’re just trying to get back to the level that he was before the injury,” McCarthy said. https://t.co/MZxHJnxY15

The two-time Pro Bowler isn’t expected to see any reps in preseason action, but the team is hoping for a Week 1 return against Tampa Bay on Sep. 9.

Dak Prescott was looking stellar before he suffered his season-ending compound fracture in Week 5. But, according to the 28-year-old QB, his best is yet to come.

“I’m telling you, I’m going to be a better player in every aspect when I’m back,” Prescott said in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. “A lot of the things that have happened, they’ve allowed me to be here, but I don’t even know if I’ve reaped the strength yet. What I mean is … that’s to come.”
