The Dallas Cowboys may lose an assistant coach or two this offseason, but they’re doing their best to make sure their front office remains intact.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys are finalizing a deal to keep Will McClay for the 2022 season.
McClay is the vice president of player personnel for the Cowboys. With several general manager vacancies around the league, Dallas is doing its part to ensure that another team doesn’t hire McClay.
“One of the top GM candidates who hasn’t been mentioned much is Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay,” Rapoport reported. “From what I understand, he’s expected to stay in Dallas, with the team closing in on a deal to keep him. A major move coming for the Cowboys.”
Of course, Cowboys fans are very happy about this news.

McClay has been with the Cowboys since the 2009 season. He started his executive career as a pro scouting coordinator before moving his way up to vice president of player personnel.
Considering how talented the Cowboys’ roster is this season, it’s fair to say McClay has done an excellent job in his role.
The Cowboys have drafted a plethora of stars over the past several years, such as Trevon Diggs, Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott. A sizable amount of the credit for those picks should go to McClay.
