Cowboys Fans Pushing For Trade For 1 Quarterback

The Dallas Cowboys have Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback, but a lot of uncertainty when it comes to their backup. That uncertainty has some Cowboys fans calling for a trade to acquire one quarterback in particular.

Cowboys fans have been taking to Twitter today, advocating for the team to trade for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew. Earlier today, the Jaguars announced that rookie Trevor Lawrence will be their starter this season, relegating Minshew to the bench.

In two seasons with the Jaguars, Minshew is 7-13 as a starter with 37 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 63-percent completion rate. Not bad for a former sixth-round pick.

Not everyone is in favor of such a move though. But Cowboys fans appear willing to offer up to a fifth- or even fourth-round pick for the Jaguars quarterback.

This is a move I can get behind. Fitzpatrick 2.0

I’d give a conditional 5th.

I been saying the same all preseason. Think a 4th and a swap of 7s

It’s not the first time that Minshew has been suggested as a trade target for the Dallas Cowboys. Last week Colin Cowherd did a whole segment advocating for the Cowboys to trade for either Minshew or Chicago Bears third-string quarterback Nick Foles.

“Dallas needs to get on the phone. It’s called Nick Foles or Gardner Minshew.”

The Dallas Cowboys offense struggled mightily in 20220 after Dak Prescott suffered his season ending leg injury. They went from one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses to an anemic one almost immediately.

A big reason for those struggles was the quarterback position, which understandably struggled with Andy Dalton, Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci as the replacement options.

The team finished 6-10 that season and made sure to tie down Prescott with a big contract. But now that Prescott is nursing a shoulder injury, fans want some more insurance for the coming season.

Should the Cowboys swing a trade for Gardner Minshew, or any other quarterback?
