Cowboys Cornerback Injured In Team’s Preseason Finale

Every team playing in its preseason finale is praying for no injuries. Unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys had a rookie cornerback go down today.

First-year cornerback Kelvin Joseph, Dallas’ second-round pick this past spring, went down after making a tackle in the first half this afternoon. The Cowboys are facing the Jacksonville Jaguars in their final exhibition game and are resting over two dozen key contributors, but wanted to give the rookie Joseph some additional work.

According to the team, Joseph is questionable to return with a left groin injury.

Rookie Kelvin Joseph walked off the field immediately after that tackle, sat on the turf & was being looked after by the training staff.

Joseph, who played for LSU and Kentucky in college, is expected to begin the season as one of Dallas’ second-string cornerbacks. Veterans Anthony Brown and and Jourdan Lewis, along with second-year pro Trevon Diggs, are the Cowboys’ top cover men.

Hopefully, Joseph only tweaked his groin. We expect Dallas to proceed with caution, as those types of injuries can linger and the season opener against Tampa Bay is less than two weeks away.

You can watch Dallas-Jacksonville right now on NFL Network.
