Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is continuing to recover from a shoulder strain he suffered in practice a few weeks ago. Ahead of Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans, head coach Mike McCarthy offered an update on his injured QB.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, McCarthy said that Prescott will be limited in their next practice. But as for his status against the Texans, McCarthy didn’t seem too optimistic.
“There’s a good chance he probably won’t play,” McCarthy said. Prescott did not play in Dallas’ first two preseason games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
Prescott has not even played in an active NFL game since Week 5, when he suffered a season-ending injury against the New York Giants. It will be at least 10 months since that injury before he plays again.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 6-10 season that saw their defense give up the most points in franchise history. But the offense became almost anemic after Dak Prescott suffered his Week 5 injury.
The combined passing prowess of Andy Dalton, Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci averaged less than 250 yards per game and 15 passing touchdowns in 11 games.
In the ensuing offseason, the Cowboys finally gave Prescott a massive contract extension – a four-year, $160 million deal.
But if this shoulder strain continues to be an issue, the Cowboys may have to start the season without their $160 million man.
Will Dak Prescott be healthy enough to start in Week 1?
