Could Raiders cherry-pick from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency?

The Super Bowl champions have a bunch of key free agents

Soon, the glow of winning the Super Bowl will fade for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the reality of the never-ending business grind of the NFL sets in.

The Buccaneers have eight key free agents (which is a lot) and JoeBuc.com reports that the teams is aiming to keep five or six of those key players.

Perhaps the Raiders can take advantage of the Buccaneers’ free-agency logjam and swoop in and steal a player.

The top Tampa Bay free agents are:

  • Edge rusher Shaq Barrett
  • Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh
  • Wide receiver Chris Godwin
  • Tight end Rob Gronkowski
  • Linebacker Lavonte David
  • Receiver Antonio Brown (yes, we know)
  • Running back Leonard Fournette
  • Kicker Ryan Succop

Barrett or Godwin will likely receive the franchise tag (teams can start using it on Tuesday), but the player who isn’t tagged by Tampa Bay will likely be too rich for the Raiders’ budget. I’d strike both of those out of the picture for Las Vegas, even though Barrett and Goodwin would be good fits.

Also, there is no way in hell the Raiders and Brown will reunite!

So let’s look at the other options.

Rob Gronkowski

Gronkowski would be a lot of fun in Las Vegas, but with Darren Waller and Forster Moreau, I don’t see the need. Plus, I can’t see Gronk leaving Tom Brady.

David will likely be too pricey and the Raiders don’t need Succop as they are thrilled with kicker Daniel Carlson.

That leaves Suh and Fournette from this group.

I could see both fitting with the Raiders. They could use a big backup tailback behind Josh Jacobs and he would add a dimension to the Las Vegas offense.

The Raiders were interested in Suh three years ago (Jon Gruden’s first offseason back with the team) and Suh would be a great fit. He would change the tone of the Las Vegas defense. But he seems to be a priority in Tampa Bay and he never comes cheaply.

But with the potential flux looming in Tampa Bay, I think it is wise for this community to keep tabs on both Suh and Fournette.
