Just weeks ago it appeared that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz might miss anywhere from 4-8 games at minimum with a foot injury. Fast-forward to today, and Colts head coach Frank Reich has an update that fans will love to see.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reich had just two words to describe how Wentz has looked in practice. “All good,” he said, when asked about how Wentz has been over the last three days.
Reich added that the next step for Wentz will be going through a full padded practice without restrictions. That hasn’t happened just yet, but there’s plenty of time left for Wentz to do so.
That said, don’t expect to see Wentz on the field for Friday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions. Backup Jacob Eason is expected to start the game as he and rookie Sam Ehlinger vie for the No. 2 QB job.

The Indianapolis Colts gave up no small amount of compensation to get Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles and reunite him with Frank Reich. The two did incredible things together during their brief stint in Philadelphia together.
But after Reich left to join the Colts in 2018, Wentz struggled to play as well. He wound up leading the NFL in interceptions in 2020 despite playing just 12 games.
The Colts, meanwhile, have gone 28-20 in three seasons with Reich, making the playoffs twice.
Will Carson Wentz be ready to start in Week 1 for Frank Reich? And will he play better than he did for the Eagles last year?
