There are few teams at any level of sport that enjoy the kind of consistent success that the Alabama Crimson Tide football program sees each year.
So as Nick Saban and his perennial title-contending squad head into the 2022-23 season, expectations are as high as ever.
247Sports analyst Brad Crawford named the Crimson Tide as the most-likely team to go 12-0 through the regular season — solidifying their usual spot in the SEC Championship and College Football Playoff.
Much like last season, Alabama and Georgia could skate relatively unscathed into Atlanta as respective division winners. However, if either teams comes into the SEC Championship Game with a loss, they need not lose again ahead of the playoff selection committee’s final vote. Alabama is the more-likely team to finish 12-0 in the regular season, but take the over on both the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs, and will more than likely get a split. Georgia’s regular-season slate is less of a challenge, however, Alabama’s overall team is slightly better this fall from a betting standpoint.
This past season, Alabama’s only regular-season loss of the year came at the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies. After bouncing back to win the SEC Championship, the Tide ultimately fell to the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship game.
Saban’s 2022 recruiting class currently ranks No. 2 in the nation behind Texas A&M. With four incoming five-stars and star quarterback Bryce Young returning as the team’s leader, Alabama should be business as usual heading into this year’s college football campaign.
