Kansas came out on fire to start this Saturday’s game against Villanova, jumping out to a 36-18 lead in the first half. Things changed though once David McCormack picked up his second foul.
McCormack was called for a foul with six minutes remaining in the first half. It was a questionable call, especially considering the refs were letting the two teams play physical early on in the game.
As soon as McCormack went to the bench because of foul trouble, Villanova managed to cut Kansas’ lead to 11 points.
Some fans believe that call allowed Villanova to get back into this game.
“What a garbage foul that was on David McCormack,” Rock Chalk Blog tweeted. “If Villanova goes on a run here as a result of him being out, that’s going to suck. Didn’t look like a foul at all.”

“Refs didn’t really need to do the pity calls for Villanova,” one fan said. “It’s a 2-seed.”

McCormack had 13 points and two rebounds in the first half. Villanova simply had no answer for him.
We’ll see if McCormack can stay out of foul trouble in the second half.
