There have been several upsets in the NCAA Tournament so far. Few, though, are as surprising as Auburn’s loss on Sunday night.
The Tigers, the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, were a popular pick to win the whole thing. Bruce Pearl’s team has a potential No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick and a host of surrounding talent.
However, Auburn was taken down by No. 10 seed Miami on Sunday night.
Auburn fell to Miami in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, as the Hurricanes are off to the Sweet 16 and the Tigers are going home.
Jim Larranaga now has THREE Sweet 16 appearances during his tenure at Miami: 2013, 2016, and 2022. The Hurricanes upset Auburn to advance.
And Miami’s perimeter?

College basketball fans are pretty surprised.
If Auburn ran any offense down the stretch they’d have a chance, instead they kept shooting 30-footers, and it wasn’t Steph Curry’s fault

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. This Auburn team was incredible to watch and gave us so much joy this season. An SEC title, All-Americans, and numerous accolades. Unfortunately they met a fate that almost everyone has to succumb to. Hats off to Miami. pic.twitter.com/gPiqMxY37n

I think we all can agree the story of the day is this Auburn loss. Shocking

After all the trash talk and anger between Tennessee, Auburn and Kentucky fans (lots of which has been in by mentions), it turns out we all ended up flaming out

“They ‘Sposed to be SEC” overheard from the Miami crowd immediately prior to an “A-C-C” chant after a dismantling of Auburn 😂😂

We’re going to have a Miami-Iowa St. match-up in the Sweet 16.
Iowa St. was 2-22 last season.
Miami was 10-17.
