While FOX Sports 1 radio host Colin Cowherd has a lot of love for the NBA and the sport of basketball, he’s continually perplexed by one thing.
Taking to his Twitter Sunday, the host of “The Herd” aired out one of his biggest grievances with the league.
“I’ll never get used to how much the NBA has normalized stars missing games,” Cowherd said. “Sorry, don’t buy it’s all injuries.” Adding, “Just shorten the regular season already. Let’s get to games that matter.”

Cowherd’s tweet is likely aimed at LeBron James who missed a crucial game for the Lakers Sunday. Los Angeles ended up losing to the Nuggets 129-118 despite a 28-point effort from Anthony Davis.
The Lakers play-in chances dwindle with each passing game. Which would’ve been an unthinkable sentence at the beginning of the season when LA was the NBA title favorite.
Los Angeles on has four games remaining against the Suns, Warriors and Thunder; before another game against Denver in the season finale.

Over the past half decade or so, “load management” has become more and more of a problem for the NBA. Though that issue has slowed some in recent years.
The idea of a shorter regular season has been kicked around for a while now, but there isn’t much inclination from the league to make it happen. Especially after the lost revenue in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
