Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer is one of the many big-time names linked to the recently-vacated USC head coaching job. In fact, just yesterday, NFL insider Michael Lombardi reported that he was hearing the former Ohio State/Florida coaching legend might be interested in pursuing a return to the college game.
On Wednesday, though, Meyer quickly shot down these rumors. During a press conference earlier today, the first-year NFL head coach said there was “no chance” he leaves the Jags to take the Trojans’ head coaching job.
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd corroborated Meyer’s statements with two more inside sources who both reportedly gave the “no chance” response: an NFL GM and a person close to Meyer’s wife, Shelley.
“I made two calls yesterday afternoon on Urban Meyer to SC rumors. An NFL GM w insight said “No chance” and someone close to Urban’s wife Shelly said “No chance”. This morning Urban also said “No chance”. So I’m going w no chance,” the Trojans fan/football insider wrote on Twitter.

While reports have indicated that Meyer is struggling to transition to the NFL game, a departure from the Jaguars’ organization after just one loss seems pretty far fetched.
Meyer and the Jacksonville organization will look to bounce back from their Week 1 loss with a matchup against the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday.
USC fired longtime head coach Clay Helton after an embarrassing home loss to Stanford on Saturday. For the time being, the Trojans will be led by interim head coach Donte Williams.
