With rumors swirling that he could come back from retirement, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski addressed the chatter on Wednesday.
On the latest episode of “Basketball and Beyond with Coach K,” ESPN’s Sean Farnham asked if there was any chance Krzyzewski would pull a Tom Brady and return to the sideline.
“Well, to even be put in the same room maybe that Brady would be in is an honor,” Krzyzewski said. “But, he still has talent that can be used at a really high level. I’m done with the coaching part of it. But wow, I’ve been so lucky to be in it for 47 years.
“I’ve loved doing what I dreamed what I wanted to do when I was 16 and that was be a coach.”

Of course, people could argue that if Krzyzewski really was contemplating coming back, he wouldn’t reveal that until he actually made the decision to return.
That’s likely true, but we’re buying that he’s being forthright here. Those final two losses to UNC will sting forever, but it still doesn’t make sense for Coach K to have gone through with the entire season-long send-off tour only to turn around and stay for another year.
We’re still banking on Jon Scheyer being Duke’s head coach in 2022-23.
