47 years in, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski is still trying new things. And that’s part of the reason he’s enjoyed as much success as he has over the course of his coaching career.
In this year’s NCAA Tournament, Coach K says he’s tried something completely new with his two-seeded Blue Devils.
“I’ve never done this before,” the legendary coach explained to media members at his presser. “But against Michigan State, and then again last night, when I come in the locker room I just pull out a chair and I sit with them for about five minutes. I just say ‘Okay, here’s where we’re at,’ and just talk to them.”
Krzyzewski in his opening statement: “We’re obviously really excited and proud to be playing tomorrow night against an outstanding Arkansas team.”

“Then we go as talk as coaches, and then come back and get a little bit more fiery, and that has had a really good impact,” he continued.
Whenever this tournament run ends for Duke, that’ll be the last time Coach K walks off the floor.
The Blue Devils matchup against No. 4 Arkansas on Saturday night; as Krzyzewski attempts to add a 13th Final Four appearance to the capstone of his storied tenure at Duke University.
Nobody has done it better, longer than Coach K; and now, he’s just three wins away from leaving the game a national champion.
