Damian Lillard has been mentioned in numerous trade rumors this offseason. A blockbuster trade involving the All-Star guard isn’t imminent at this time, but he recently admit that he’s not sure what the future has in store for him.
During this Friday’s edition of “The Woj Pod,” Portland shooting guard CJ McCollum shared his thoughts on Lillard’s situation and what he wants at this stage in his career.
“I don’t want to speak for him, but having a close relationship – he and I talk every day, or every other day, from sharing memes to sending videos to each other to serious talks about our season, what it takes to win, what it’s going to takes to win a championship – I have a pretty good sense of where he’s at,” McCollum told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. “And I think his goal is to win a championship.
“I think, at the end of the day, that’s what we all want. We want to put ourselves in the best position to win a championship. But I mean, he’s all in. I think at this stage I can say that he’s all in. He just wants to win at the end of the day.”

In terms of individual success, Lillard is considered one of the best players in the league right now. When it comes to team success, that’s where he takes a bit of a hit.
Lillard, 31, has not yet made an NBA Finals appearance in his career. That seems nearly impossible considering how productive he is in the postseason.
The Trail Blazers have Lillard under contract through the 2023-24 season, with a player option on his deal for the 2024-25 season. It’ll be interesting to see how much longer Lillard is willing to stick around before he requests a trade.
