NFL teams need to get their rosters down to 80 players by this Tuesday.
Sunday morning, the Cincinnati Bengals released five players, including a notable quarterback. The Bengals have released 25-year-old quarterback Eric Dungey.
Dungey, an undrafted quarterback out of Syracuse in 2019, was a third-team All-ACC quarterback in 2018. He’s spent time on three different NFL rosters.
The young quarterback made his preseason debut earlier this week. Dungey threw for 14 yards on 3 of 6 passing, adding 2 rushes for 12 yards.

Dungey was one of several roster moves by the Bengals on Sunday morning.
Defensive tackle Freedom Akinmoladun, center Lamont Gaillard, tight end Cheyenne O’Grady and safety Kavon Frazier were also let go by the AFC North franchise.
We’ve made the following roster moves:
– Signed free agent DE Noah Spence
– Waived DT Freedom Akinmoladun, QB Eric Dungey, C Lamont Gaillard and TE Cheyenne O’Grady, & terminated the contract of veteran S Kavon Frazier.
– Cleared P Drue Chrisman to return to practice.— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) August 22, 2021
The Bengals also got some crushing injury news on Sunday morning. Rookie pass rusher Joseph Ossai is expected to be out for the year with a knee injury.
#Bengals rookie DE Joseph Ossai is slated to have knee surgery this week for a meniscus injury that is feared to be season-ending, per source.
Brutal blow for Cincinnati and Ossai, a third-round pick who sacked Tom Brady and had five QB pressures in a stellar preseason debut.
