Maybe it’ll be better for all of us if Auburn loses Sunday night.
After No. 5 Houston’s hard-fought win over Illinois to send them to the Sweet 16, Cougars head coach Kelvin Sampson went shirtless in the locker room.
Prompting Charles Barkley to say to his fellow halftime crew, “I’ll tell you what, if [Auburn wins] I might take my shirt off.”

“Hold it, what’d you just say?” asked Ernie Johnson.
“I said I’m gonna be Kelvin Sampson tonight,” Barkley chuckled. “If Auburn wins, first of all, I’mma gritty, then I’m – I might consider taking my shirt off.”
Chuck’s two-seeded Tigers face-off against No. 10 Miami at 7:45 PM ET for a chance to advance to the third-round. Bruce Pearl‘s team has enjoyed a ton of success so far this year; probably the most they’ve had since Barkley suited up for Auburn in the early-to-mid 80’s (outside of the 2018 season).
The 28-5 Tigers will have plenty of road to go before they can call it a historic season though.
But if Auburn can get that win tonight, the collective basketball world may get a clip for the ages.
