Trade rumors surrounding Chandler Jones made the rounds on Sunday afternoon.
Last month, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported Jones is unhappy with the Cardinals because of his current contract. He reportedly requested a trade, but we haven’t heard much about the situation ever since – that is, until Sunday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the New York Jets are in need of a quality pass rusher. They lost star defensive lineman Carl Lawson to a season-ending torn Achilles earlier this week. The Jets are now reportedly exploring a trade to land a replacement. Insert Jones.
The Jones-to-the-Jets rumors spread like a wildfire via Twitter Sunday afternoon. He’d be a great fit for a Jets team in need of help.
After losing Carl Lawson to a season-ending torn Achilles, the Jets now are looking for ways to acquire a pass rusher to help fill the void, per sources. A trade before the season is being explored.

This ultimately depends on what the Jets are willing to part with if they want Chandler Jones. After all, he’s 31 years old and has just one year left on his contract. But if they feel like he’d help replace Lawson, it’d be worth it.
“With the amount of picks we’ve got in the draft next year, Joe Douglas is going to get the guy he wants,” one fan wrote. “Maybe we see a trade for a mid level player (Fowler/Graham) or a disgruntled star (Chandler Jones?). All options are on the table.”
At the very least, Jets fans are pleased with Joe Douglass’s aggressiveness to field a quality roster.
“Aggressiveness by Douglas after losing Lawson is nice to see,” another fan said. “Not sure who they can swing a deal for, if he lands a player like say Chandler Jones it’s a sign to the fan base that they want to compete #Jets.”
Keep an eye out here. Jones to the Jets makes plenty of sense for all involved.
